2022 ENDORSEMENTS
This year, Sunrise CT received a record number of responses to our endorsement questionnaire.
After months of consideration, we are immensely proud to be throwing our support behind a slate of 17 climate champions who have demonstrated the strongest and most steadfast commitments in the fight for a livable future of justice, equity, sustainability, care, and solidarity. In this moment of intensifying climate catastrophe, economic inequality, and white supremacy, CT must be a leader not only in combatting the climate crisis and reducing emissions, but also in addressing intersectional injustices at the root of these issues. We are extremely excited to work closely with all of these leaders over the coming months and beyond to center young, BIPOC, & frontline voices at the decision making table, strengthen our democracy, and make a CT Green New Deal a reality!

OUR ENDORSEMENT PROCESS
Every election cycle, Sunrise CT solicits survey submissions from current elected officials and candidates interested in receiving our group’s endorsement. Our hub endorses leaders who are committed to fighting the climate crisis and who will stand up for the health and well-being of all people. Additionally, we endorse candidates who have signed onto the Green New Deal and No Fossil Fuel Money pledges. We hope that through our endorsement process, we can help elect determined climate leaders in Connecticut who will fight for our communities and our collective future.

Hub members were provided with submitted survey responses on Wednesday, August 27th, 2022 via our Slack community. After reviewing submissions, members were invited to 4 full hub meetings, held virtually, to discuss responses and vote to endorse candidates. Additional discussion in Slack and follow ups with interested candidates took place on an as needed basis.
