2024 ENDORSEMENTS

Every election year Sunrise Movement Connecticut accepts applications for endorsements within the state. Everyone that applies goes under review by our leadership team and then a vote by the general hub. Out endorsees are people who are climate champions and are willing to push climate legislation forward in the state of Connecticut. We accept applications from both incumbents and newly running politicians. We also do consider all applications fairly and do not discriminate based on race, gender, sex, class, community, or political affiliation. We base our endorsements based on those who are willing to put in the work and help us in our effort of creating more Sunrises for future generations.

OUR ENDORSEMENT PROCESS

Every election cycle, Sunrise CT solicits survey submissions from current elected officials and candidates interested in receiving our group’s endorsement. Our hub endorses leaders who are committed to fighting the climate crisis and who will stand up for the health and well-being of all people. Additionally, we endorse candidates who have signed onto the Green New Deal and No Fossil Fuel Money pledges. We hope that through our endorsement process, we can help elect determined climate leaders in Connecticut who will fight for our communities and our collective future.

Hub members are provided with submitted survey responses via our Slack community. After reviewing submissions, members were invited to 4 full hub meetings, held virtually, to discuss responses and vote to endorse candidates. Additional discussion in Slack and follow ups with interested candidates took place on an as needed basis.

Endorsements from Sunrise Movement Connecticut are made independently of any party or organization and do not indicate endorsement from the national Sunrise Movement.
